Allenton School Fair
Tuesday 8 September
2015
On Saturday, it is Allenton School’s fair. Room 6 is making an underwater throw game. What
you have to do is try and throw the sponges
at the faces. It will be very fun.
It will make lots of money. Each class
had to make an art work. Mrs M is doing the art for room 6. We have made a circle one. It looks amazing and
so do the other classes. There will be lots of fun things there. The fair is
always fun. It gives you something to do in the weekend. But you have to save your money so you can
play the games.

While Miss Barker's away...
This week Miss Barker is away in Auckland for a conference and we have Mrs Marshall as our teacher. We are finishing our fair art and planning our class stall. Watch this space... We also were interested in the new flag designs that we saw in the newspaper today. Would you like a new flag and if so, which one would you choose?

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori
This week it was Maori Language week. In Room 7 we were playing 21 and we did it in Maori. We have little booklets and in Maori it is spelled Rataka. Inside the Rataka there is days in the week, shapes, numbers, greetings, feelings, objects in the classroom, body parts, colours, simple commands and farewells. We have a colouring in competition.
The most popular colours in Maori are whero, ma and mangu/pango.
Some body parts are puku and waewae.
We also do wakatauki. In English it's a proverb.
I have learned how to count in Maori.
I think that it is an amazing culture. The reason I think that it is an amazing culture is because of how they say things. The words are spelt differently and we say them differently too.

My quilt By Iela
This is my quilt, I made it out of shapes.
I used:
-Diamonds
-triangles
-squares
- rectangles
I had some help from my friends George and Sophie, it took me about three days to finish this.
We did this for maths, we had four stations, first group was the quilt station when we have to create our own quilt, then the draw 3D station when we had to draw 3D shapes, third group was the cubes station we need to put cubes together to make the shapes on the piece of paper, fourth group was the make 3D that's when we get to make 3D shapes with playdough.

We play sports like rugby, netball, basketball ,baseball we also like playing board games and writing ,math ,reading. We also like going on vacation and going around the world. We love to go to our friend's house and play other sports like soccer. Having a friend is good so you won't be lonely and you can visit at your friend's house.

On Sudden Hill by Linda Sarah and Benji Davies
There were once two boys who loved boxes, their names are Birt and Etho. Everyday they would go on to sudden hill with their two cardboard boxes. All day they would play together, But what they loved most of all was their friendship. Then one Monday When Birt and Etho was on top of Sudden hill They saw another Box lover named Shu who has been watching them and always wanted to join them, finally found the right sized box and Shu had the courage to ask if he could play. On Etho's Face grew a smile, Sure! said Etho. Sometimes Etho and Shu play Dragon slayers, Side-by-side house dwellers and skyscraper dancers, Birt feels strange. Then one night Birt smashes his box Rips it to bits so that he may never use it again. Then his Dad Started shouting in the next room something about being quiet. Birt stops going to Sudden Hill, Sometimes Etho and Shu come along but Birt avoids them, all he does is draw pictures of boxes...
What will happen next?
I enjoy this book because it is about friendship:)

Three great sentences
1) Tomorrow my mum and dad are going to tropical Rarotonga for a party.
2) At Christmas my cousin Jake got up to some mischief and ate chocolate in bed.
3) I like standing on the podium, it makes me feel proud of myself.
Why I like these 3 sentences that I have written:
I think I have used great adjectives and they make sense.

Elliot made this amazing solar oven. He had to do lots of tricky maths to find out the focal point and the hottest part of the solar oven.
